Looking Back
If I ever get the opportunity to look back over the Covid-time, these images will reflect two of the most significant things I’ll remember.

I can't believe we've got a son who's 37
We didn't get to see our Matthew for his birthday – we've hardly seen him and Sarah for a year now (we're shielding and they're teachers – they don’t want to risk passing on infections from school!) So, we went to our local park and walked round some of his favourite places from childhood, enjoyed a lot of 'do you remember when ...' memories and then I created this 'birthday' image.
I hope it will always remind me to make time for the people I love – the people who matter to me. Remind me that I might not always get the opportunity to catch up with them on another occasion.

Contemplation (II)
For most of my photographic life (both in my 20s and again in my 60s) I've worked in black and white, learning to make images of impact, consequence and moment (like the one alongside). But, I've taken very different photographs over the last year – they're softer, more ethereal. They have titles like Daring to Dream, Contemplation, Breathing, Wonderment – there's not a black and white photo of a canal, a church or cathedral amongst them.
Maybe, in a year or so, when the world is more at ease I’ll return to my earlier style of photography – the more conventional style.
But then, maybe I won't!
Stay safe xx
